MBI hosts 9th Annual SfN Chapter Conference

The UF departments of neuroscience and psychiatry and the McKnight Brain Institute co-sponsored the Ninth Annual North Central Florida Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience Conference on Jan. 25.

Held in the MBI’s DeWeese Auditorium, the conference began with poster presentations and a panel discussion titled “Resources for Diversity and Inclusion in Neuroscience,” featuring:

  • Latoya Allen, UF graduate student of neuroscience
  • Marcelo Febo, Ph.D., UF assistant professor of psychiatry and director of translational research imaging
  • Lorenzo Leggio, M.D., Ph.D., National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and National Institute on Drug Abuse section chief of clinical psychoneuroendocrinology and neuropsychopharmacology
  • Bonnie Moradi, Ph.D., UF professor of psychology and director of UF’s Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies Research

Leggio served as the conference’s keynote speaker and highlighted recent translational efforts to develop novel treatments for addiction via gut-brain pathways.
