CAM Welcomes 4 Summer Neuroscience Students

Every summer the Department of Neuroscience, in conjunction with the Evelyn F. and William L.McKnight Brain Institute, hosts a 10-week internship to undergraduate students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in neuroscience. The Summer Neuroscience Internship Program (SNIP) places paid interns in active neuroscience research labs to obtain hands-on laboratory and research experience, personalized guidance on graduate school admissions and professional development and career planning.

This summer four SNIP students have been placed in labs associated with the Center for Cognitive Aging and Memory. Jillian Murray from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio is being mentored in the lab of Dr. Karina Alvina. Kiani Cruz from the University of Hawaii at Manoa is being mentored in the lab of Dr. Argyle Bumanglag. Karelys Montanez from Washington & Jefferson in Washington, PA is being mentored in the lab of Dr. Barry Setlow. Ali Petrisek from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida is being mentored by Dr. Yenisel Cruz-Almeida. The program will run from Tuesday, May 31 – Friday, August 5, 2022.

SNIP is directed by Dr. Jeremy McIntyre, and assisted by Dr. Karina Alvina. You may contact the program by sending an email to SNIP@neuroscience.ufl.edu.
